Personnel Officer

Will you become part of our international personnel team that is responsible for the recruitment and coordination of 750 crewmembers of 20+ nationalities on board our vessels? We are looking for an energetic colleague for the position of Personnel Officer who is able to work under pressure, is a good team player, has a good command of the English language, written and spoken, has strong time management skills, a service-oriented mentality, and strong interpersonal skills. It is a full time (40 hours per week in the office) position in our Amsterdam office, and you will report directly to the Crewing Director.

Our management activities at Reederei NORD B.V. in Amsterdam focus on the operation of ocean-going, high-spec crude, product and chemical tankers and Bulk Carriers. Key Responsibilities

  • Selecting, recruiting, and appointing suitably qualified and experienced Masters, Officers and Ratings;
  • Preparing crewing budgets and controlling crewing costs;
  • Making travel and visa arrangements for crew joining and signing off from vessels. This includes liaising with manning, travel and port agents;
  • Assisting the Personnel Accountants with the payment of crew wages, the arranging of home allotments, and the arranging of cash to Masters;
  • Scheduling and forward planning Officers assignments;
  • Following through on the personal development and career advancement of Officers and Crew;
  • Monitoring the performance of Officers and Crews and ensuring compliance with Company disciplinary procedures;
  • Preparing and submitting Crew P+I (Protection and Indemnity) claims;
  • Liaising with Owners about Officers assignments and other relevant crew matters on vessels managed under various crewing agreements;
  • Maintaining and updating all crew related documents and files;
  • Providing after office hours coverage as appropriate.

Knowledge, Skills and Competences

            Must Have

  • You are proficient in spoken and written English;
  • You have strong time management skills, are organized and able to work efficiently when a workload peak occurs from time to time;
  • You have strong interpersonal and communication skills, enjoy working in a team and feel comfortable in a diverse and international environment;
  • You are enthusiastic and thrive in a fast-paced work environment;
  • You are a quick learner;
  • You have a strong service mentality;
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

            Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in the marine industry;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
